Capturing the Pacific voice that surrounds us - Meet Alex King
the creative mind and lens behind Alex King Photography.

Alex describes herself as the “black sheep” of the family who felt like she didn’t fit in anywhere. She knew that she wanted to be surrounded by freedom, flexibility and creativity… and being stuck in a 9-5 office job only limited this. So she went ahead and made her own plans.

With a camera in her hand, she soon found herself travelling the world and on the other side of the lens. Since then, she has been able to turn her passion for photography into a living.

“Photography took my life to a whole new place and level, somewhere I could be freely and expressively myself.”

Her love for photography and the arts has guided Alex to find her voice as an outspoken indigenous photographer and storyteller.

She believes that it is important to be honest about who you are and be able to stand your own ground. For Alex, her goal is to tell narratives and share images of Pacific and indigenous communities with the world, and she does this by being authentic and true to self.

“Here in the Pacific, it’s currently a niche market, there isn’t many of us doing it out in the world and or for the most authentic purposes.”

With over 10 years of experience, Alex has seen it all – the good, the bad and the ugly truth. She can see when people and companies are doing things just for the money or as a marketing gimmick.

Calling all the shots, Alex is able to work on projects that align with her values and vision. It’s also has helped her to grow in confidence when it comes to marketing herself and her brand.

Alex currently resides in Rarotonga, Cook Islands, with her biggest motivator, her 7 year old daughter. Alex King Photography specialises in portrait, weddings photography, photo documentary and storytelling.
