It takes a village to rebuild dreams
Lasi Theng founded The Koko Samoa after a family visit to Samoa during the measles outbreak moved her to do something to improve lives and infrastructure at home. Returning to Australia with cups of traditional koko too large for a small family, the Thengs had the idea of smaller single-serve Koko Samoa pods. The business carries on a tradition her father started with his permaculture plantation of cacao, bananas and taro.
Through the Future Proof Samoa movement, a portion of proceeds supports farmers, local charities and health, education and employment initiatives in Samoa. At the time of the spotlight the business had four staff and was selling in twelve countries.
